Investment

One's prudence is shown in his investments. Well.. every body can not be a prudent investor. One needs a guide to know the ins and outs of investment. For those who need a guide, Forbes is running a website on investments - Investopedia.com.
I am not much into investment and neither am I a great investor. But after close examination of the site, i profoundly felt that it is very useful for all kinds of investors, new and expert investors as well. The site loads pretty fast. The interface is pleasing and neatly arranged. Menus are on the top of Title Banner. Search box, Sign in, Registration Button, Get Quote box are placed beside the Title Banner. On the Left side is the navigation pad with the same links of Menu bar. But I found the Menu bar was easy to use with drop down menus which allowed me click on the link I wanted to see. On the right side is Link for Term of the Day, which explains a financial term every day. Below is placed a cartoon on investment and other link boxes of the Special Features and Services of Investopedia. On the bottom of the page are links for other services and websites of Forbes.
This site has extensive content on investment, tutorials, articles, stock simulator, stock ideas etc. But to use some features you have to register with them. As a Registered Member you will have access to many of its services like free newsletters, stock simulator of different portfolios, you can ask them questions you want to know, etc. The tutorials are of course, free. The site also has material for CFA exam preparation. I found the community page to be very useful. It appeared that the community has great ideas and investment plans. The page shows top performers and the number of followers also.
No investment site is comeplete without most influencing thing, Market news. Investopedia provides the latest market news keeping the visitors abreast with the up to date changes.
This site is a feature packed and it is not possible to write about all of them here.
At this age of Investments, I feel Forbes is doing a great service with this site.
Go, be the prudent investor.
I give a big thumbs up to this site.
Trends in Home Decor
Posted by blog4net | | bath tub, bathroom, beds, decor, decoration, doors, faucets, home, house, interior decoration, kitchen, magazine, showers, trends | 0 comments »Luxury is a statement and symbol of one's status. That's what everyone dreams of. That's how every one wants to live. Luxury in everything, car, dress, mobiles, gadgets etc. And the Home one lives. Your luxurious things should match your home. If you have a luxurious house and the interiors, nothing can match the respect and dignity it gets you. How would you know what are the trends in home decor?
Trendir.com is a site that fulfils your needs. The site claims that it is an online magazine about high-end home decor products and trends. The site truly lives to its claim. This site has the latest information on the high-end designs and trends of almost all the categories of home decor. You can know the latest designs in faucets, Kitchen furnishings, Beds, Television Stands,
furniture, architecture, fireplaces, flooring, cabinets etc. Just name the category, you have the latest trends on this site.
The site opens faster but the images load a little slower as the pages are long and contain many high resolution photographs. The page is divided into entries and each page accommodates 15 entries. The link for the next 15 entries is placed both in the top and bottom of the page. It looks like a three colum blog. Below the header are links for some of the site's archives. Below the archives are Google Ads. Below the Google Ads is the description of the site. The left and right columns of the site have advertisements. The right column contains the Categories of Home Decor. If you want to know the latest trends of furniture, click that link. The categories are many and almost no category has been left out. Kitchen furnishings, lighting, showers, indoor water falls, are some of the categories that are extensively reported.
The Product is briefly described, explained along with price. The Photograph of the product is also placed to know how the product looks. I must say these pictures are the key for the site. You are attracted somuch to some designs that you will visit the site again and again to see if any new product has arrived. Along with the description, you can know who is selling the product, a link is also provided to the seller's website.
The site is a good source to know the latest trends in home decor and I am sure you will decide what you want for your home.
The draw back of the site is that you will have to endlessly scroll down to read the content. This happens because of the three-column template of the site and the number of entries per page. The width of the middle column where the sites content is written is less and the text goes down the page. Each page contains 15 entries but I strongly felt that it should be restricted to not more than 10 entries which will lessen the strain of scrolling.
The site has RSS feeds to enable you stay in touch with the trends from your browser.
If you are a building a luxurious house or a freak of home decor, this site is one of the best ones out there for you.
The site wins more on the content rather than the usability.
I give Moderate thumbs up to the site.

Knowthis.com is a very good marketing resource site with wonderful tutorials for both a beginner as well as an expert. The tutorials teach you basics of marketing, how to plan your marketing to targetted customers, Internet marketing, choosing the best product to market, promoting your product etc.
The site opens pretty faster. The opening page is divided into three columns: The left pane has the Categories of turorials for quick access. This pane is always available in other pages also for quick jumping to other topics. The centre pane has links to Principles of Marketing Tutorials and the right pane has Marketing Stories collected from leading publications and Internet News sites. You can search for a topic through a google search box which is above these three panes. On the top right hand side of the page is the link for Virtual Library.
When you click a link in the Principles of Marketing, it takes you to the turorial page. The language of the tutorials is very lucid. The tutorials are divided into chapters. There is a link box of various chapters for quick access.
The right pane has google ads. The site is a non-profit site but recently they inserted google ads to meet the costs of hosting. The site has job search too, with which you can search for marketing jobs online.

For Reference
Posted by blog4net | | ads, bibliography, business, dictioneary, reference, school, search, wikipedia | 0 comments »Infoplease.com is perhaps the largest reference site one the web. This site has
many sections like, Almanacs, Encyclopedia, Dictionary, Thesaurus, Atlas, etc.
Every effort is made to keep the information up to date. The site loads pretty fast.
The site does not look thoroughly professional and no chance has been left for
earning with ads on the pages, though it doesnt disturb navigation and use of the
site but at times you are compelled to scroll down too much.
The header has a search box to search the entire site or a particular section. Two
links on the header 'Sitemap' and 'FAQ' are not working. The menu bar on the top
and menu pad on the left are very handy to shift from one section to another. The
sections are very neatly arranged enabling easy access and search.
Every page displays links for related content on the site and some sponsored links. ( I just said
no chance was left to make money through ads ! ). Every page displays Tag
Cloud in a small box, Info please tools, Career Center and College Center. I was
pleased very much to find that The College Center box has links for searching for
free scholarships which will be helpful for poor students.
The site some games like sudoku, crossword etc for adults too.
The Information on the site is authentic, accurate and reliable : After all, this site is
owned by Pearson Education, which also owns big things like Financial Times
Group and Penguin Group.
The site has an encyclopedia too. Whatever information you need, you will
find it. The search works just like a commercial search engine. It displays the no.
of results, links to the content of the site for the search term. If you misspell a word,
it even suggests the right term. The site works in a professional way.
If you have school going kids, book mark it !
But remember, this site is no competition to Wikipedia.com. Wiki has extremely
vast information - that is due to contributors worldwide. Infoplease seems to be
not stretching boundless.
Though this site is not a giant like Wiki, yet, this site is clearly a winner.
